This is where I am at currently. After the new front entry is completed I will start to paint the home. We still have a deck extension on the back of the home too.
Working for a municipality can be interesting.
This walkway was built over 18 years ago. It was constructed of interlocking pavers,
which are great in cold weather country because as the sun comes up, it warms the bricks,
which melts the snow & the water drains in between the bricks.
Unfortunately this walkway was on the North side of a building and didn't see much sunshine.
So when temps rose the water did drain, but it refroze each night, ( water expands when it freezes).
The freezing water pushed against the bricks and over time the bricks began to crumble & crush each other.
My department got the call to repair the walkway.
We investigated and found that the structure underneath was in good shape.
We just had to remove 6 tons of crushed brick & sand, demo the 3/4" plywood underlayment
& install risers & new Trex decking.
We had help removing the brick & sand, but then it was just myself & Robert to do the work.
Here is a slideshow of the project!
